About Elias Hart

Elias Hart writes about people in motion – people who set out, search, learn, and sometimes arrive exactly where they least expected. His stories are set in real places with real histories, told with literary care and a feel for the human.

Elias Hart was born on the Baltic coast and today lives in a small town near Hamburg. He travels widely across Germany – south, to Berlin, to old cities, open landscapes, and always back to places close to the sea. Along the way he collects impressions, voices and questions – material for stories about origin, departure and what connects people to one another.

On writing

"I write because I am interested in how people find their way. History, for me, is not a distant backdrop but a space full of life: full of work, hope, love, doubt, experience and decisions. Jakob – The Voice of the New Age is my first novel. It tells of a young man who works with his hands – and gradually discovers the power that lies in words."
